Yardbird Las Vegas – Gluten Free In Las Vegas Review

IMPORTANT UPDATE: We have been told that Yardbird Las Vegas is no longer using a separate, dedicated fryer for their “gluten-free” options, so unfortunately we can no longer recommend them…sorry. (updated January 2016)

YaYARDBIRD CROPPEDrdbird Southern Table & Bar does not advertise a gluten-free menu anywhere on their website, nor anywhere in their advertising, so we were a little hesitant when they contacted us to come try their GLUTEN-FREE FRIED CHICKEN. Um, we didn’t need to be worried at all…holy moley, this place KNOWS how to do gluten-free and do it right!!!! Chef Todd (their executive chef) and Chef Vivian (executive pastry chef) have figured out ways to adapt SEVERAL of their menu items to be gluten-free upon request, and they are both SO knowledgeable and highly TRAINED (as is the whole staff) on how to prepare everything safely and free from cross-contamination (completely separate area for food prep and a dedicated fryer!!). I was absolutely impressed with them from my very first visit. Now, obviously, there are some items on the menu they cannot do gluten-free (unfortunately, you won’t be ordering the waffles with your GF fried chicken…LOL), but there are so many other truly great choices, I don’t think you’ll care. Just tell them you need to eat gluten-free and your server (or a manager) will let you know what is safe to order. Please, do yourself a favor and go check out this incredible (and VERY HIP) restaurant!!!

WHAT TO ORDER (my personal favorites):

  • Gluten-Free Fried Chicken! Cooked in a dedicated fryer…so tender and juicy, yet REALLY crispy on the outside!!!
  • 18 oz Tomahawk Porkchop! This thing is HUGE (definitely SHARE it with someone), and quite possibly one of THE MOST delicious things I have ever tasted!
  • Iceberg Wedge Salad! Iceberg lettuce (obviously), fresh corn, tomatoes, house-smoked BACON, avocado, Gaba Goo dressing…tons of flavor…YUM!
  • Charred Okra! Okay, this is not something I normally ever would have ordered, but they recommended it the first time I went…and it was AMAZING. I now order it EVERY time I go back!!
  • Peanut Butter & Chocolate Sundae! Yes, well, it’s about a MILLION calories, but SO WORTH IT! Definitely big enough to share…IF you want to. 😉
  • Sweet Tea Sorbet! On the lighter side and so absolutely tasty…the perfect ending to a big, satisfying meal!
